In this episode I talked with Dr. Patrick Deneen. Dr. Deneen is a Professor of Political Science at Notre Dame University. He the author of four books, including his most popular, Why Liberalism Failed, that came out in 2018 and his most recent, American Odyssey: What and Ancient Story Reveals about our Divided Souls.
In this discussion we talked about the new Odyssey film by Christopher Nolan. Dr. Deneen gave his brief review of the movie – what it gets right and what it misses. We then discussed his newest book and how the Odyssey story has influenced some of the great American stories including The Wizard of Oz, Field of Dreams, and It's a Wonderful Life. I hope you enjoy!

Dr. Fell might have been a fictional representation of the doctors claiming total control over a society. Dr. Fauci is not. What joins them is the use of incantations invoking “science” to grasp power over ordinary lives—for our own good, of course. Of course. Right?
