Although it's painful to admit, The New York Times released a good report today. In it, the Times interviewed Republican voters from across the country, asking them how they feel about the coming midterm elections and who they're planning on voting for — if they do vote at all. The conclusion of the report was twofold:
- Many Republicans are not going to vote in the upcoming midterms.
- Many Republicans who had previously supported Trump are no longer on board with him and his administration.
The next obvious question is, why? If we look back only ten years, it's easy to remember the infamous ride down the escalator, Trump's initial bid for the presidency, and his ultimate victory in 2016. It was one of the greatest political feats in the history of American politics. An outsider calling a spade a spade and demanding retribution from the elite class who had spent the previous decades purposefully hollowing out the American economy while "secretly" getting rich in office. Trump blew the whole thing wide open and ignited a middle-American majority.
